It turned out that the group was sitting near to the table of a person from France and were displaying fear causing activity as a form of human trafficking and captivity, to control their victim from a distance.  Which happened to be this University of Pittsburgh professor from France…

The person the fear causing human trafficking activity was directed at turned out to be a University of Pittsburgh professor from France.
